AOC partnership with Koperasi Belia Belait Tanggungan Berhad (KOBELA Berhad) in Brunei Darussalam AOC & Associates Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding with KOBELA Berhad Brunei Darussalam on the 28th June 2004 in Puteri Resort, Melaka, Malaysia. The MOU will govern cooperation between the two companies when implementing joint-venture projects in the Sultanate of Brunei Darussalam over the next 3 years. KOBELA Berhad's activities focus on organizational development and HR capacity building, trading and entrepreneurship development. KOBELA Berhad will promote AOC services and assist in securing government and private sector contracts for Information and Communication Technologies(ICT) and Human Resource development programmes. <back to top> |

AOC runs parallel Youth and ICT for Development workshop at the Melaka International Youth Dialogue(MIYD) 2004 In partnership with the World Assembly of Youth, AOC & Associates organized a parallel workshop on Youth and ICT4D. The aim of the workshop was to share-knowledge and to identify four possible youth ICT projects that might be run in WAY member countries globally. The workshop began with knowledge-sharing by speakers from United Nations Childrens' Fund(UNICEF), YMCA Deaf Persons Programme, Youth Challenge Singapore, Taking IT Global, Kenya and AOC & Associates. AOC & Associates appointed as Programme Advisers for the 4th Melaka International Youth Dialogue(MIYD) June 2004, Melaka, Malaysia. AOC was appointed in April 2004 to act as the Programme Advisers to the World Assembly of Youth(WAY) Melaka International Youth Dilogue(MIYD) for the 3rd year running. The International Dialogue was attended by more that 230 youth leaders, government and civil society representatives from over 30 countries. The dialogues theme for 2004 was "Youth Participation in Decision-Making Processes". MIYD 2004 partners included the Prime Ministers Department of Malaysia, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Malaysia, The State Government of Melaka, United Nations Childrens' Fund (UNICEF), World Youth Foundation, Asian Youth Council, Malaysian Youth Council, Melaka Youth State Council, YMCA, Habitat International, Raleigh International, Youth Challenge Singapore and AOC & Associates Group. <back to top> |

Meeting with Officials of National Youth Council and Government of Brunei Darrusalam AOC Directors, Eugene Arokiasamy and Keith Timimi, met with officials of the National Youth Council, Ministry of Youth and Sports and Ministry of Foreign Affairs in early March 2004 to discuss opportunities for collaboration. AOC proposed projects and programmes that would facilitate ICT capacity building, entrepreneurship and workforce development in the Sultanate of Brunei Darussalam. AOC also proposed projects that aim to promote Brunei Darussalam's role in the ASEM process. <back to top>

Speaker at Committee for Asian Youth Councils, National Secretaries Meeting on Regional Co-operation AOC & Associates Group, Group Managing Director, Eugene Raj Arokiasamy was a panel speaker at the 14th National Secretaries Meeting on Regional Cooperation organized by the Committee for Asian Youth Councils (CAYC) from the 8th and 9th of January 2004. The panel discussion covered methods for promoting better youth capacity building initiatives through regional cooperation. Other panelists included representatives from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), ASEAN Secretariat and World Assembly of Youth. The Meeting was co-organised and funded by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Malaysia and the National Youth Council of Malaysia. <back to top>

AOC & Associates Group Branch in United States of America AOC & Associates Group will open a branch in the United States of America. The branch will be headed by Mr.Jeffery Zahn, a specialist in Marine Biology. The US Branch will focus on designing and implementing AOC & Associates Group's water management and conservation programmes for developing nations. <back to top> New Associate for United Kingdom Branch Mr.Tariq Khan, currently seconded to the World Assembly of Youth through a programme support by the British Council, will join AOC's UK branch on completion of his term in office at the World Assembly of Youth(WAY) HQ in Malaysia. Tariq will work on developing AOC & Associates Group's human resource capacity building projects and programmes in Europe. Mr.Khan, a native of United Kingdom, has work in the youth development sector for the last five years. <back to top>

AOC & Associates Group to have discussions with the National Youth Council and Government of Brunei Darussalam Group Managing Director, Eugene Raj Arokiasamy, will meet with the representatives of the National Youth Council and Ministry of Youth and Sports of Brunei Darussalam to discuss the implementation of an Asia-Europe ICT4D Conference to be held in the country in late 2004. AOC & Associates are also proposing several other regional capacity building training projects for young professionals that could be run in Brunei Darussalam. <back to top>

AOC & Associates Singapore and United Kingdom to develop an ICT Capacity Building project for Iraq In partnership with Iraqi partners, AOC & Associates Group will design an ICT Capacity building project for youth of southern Iraq. The pilot project is envisaged to run for a duration of 15 months and will be co-ordinated by Keith Timimi, Director of AOC & Associates Singapore with the support of Group Managing Director, Eugene Raj Arokisamy and Associate Director Justine McGuinness of AOC & Associates UK. Keith, a British citizen, was born in Southern Iraq and will be conducting a project recce in early 2004. <back to top> |

AOC & Associates Group joined by New Director and Associates Mr.
Nizam Ahmad Said, joins AOC & Associates Malaysia as the Director responsible
for event management. Nizam has more then 10 years of experience in organizing
events in Malaysia and the ASEAN Region. He will work closely with Associate
Director, Mr. Kevin Arokiasamy "Little Kev" who has extensive experience
in the music and entertainment industry who also joins AOC & Associates
Malaysia. Mr. Vitorio Rosario Cardoso from Portugal will also join AOC

AOC & Associates Malaysia to co-ordinate Timor-Leste Youth Choir tour of Malaysia AOC
& Assocites Malaysia will assist in organsing a cultural programme for
a Youth Choir group from Timor-Leste to tour Malaysia in 2004. The project
which will involve bringing a troup of 20 persons to tour Malaysia for
a period of 2 weeks. The project will be co-ordinated by Gregory Dennis,
Director AOC & Associates Malaysia. AOC & Associates is currently working
on identifying relevant funders and corporate sponsors for this programme.

AOC & Associates Group is appointed as consultant to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports of Timor-Leste AOC
& Associates Group was appointed as consultants to the Ministry of Education,
Culture, Youth and Sports of the Timor-Leste from 2004 to 2007. The appointment
was announced by the Secretary of State for Education, Culture, Youth
and Sports during the Dili International Youth Forum held in Timor-Leste
from the 12-15 November 2003. AOC & Associates will work on implementing
the National Action Plan on Youth and ICT and related projects, promotion
of cultural programmes and enterprise development and capacity building

AOC & Associates Group Directors Meet with the Prime Minister of Timor-Leste AOC & Associates Group Directors from United Kingdom, Malaysia and Singapore met with the Prime Minister of Timor-Leste, His Excellency Dr. Mari Alkatiri on the 12th of November 2003. The meeting took place following the speech by the Prime Minister and Group Managing Director of AOC & Associates at the official opening dinner at the Dili International Youth Forum 12-15 November 2003. The dinner was sponsored by the Prime Minister's office and was attended by several Ministers, Vice Ministers and Secretaries of State of Timor-Leste. <back to top> |

The ICT Youth Capacity Building Project for Timor-Leste 2002-2003 was officially launched by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato' Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamad and Prime Minister of Timor-Leste Dr. Mari Alkatiri on the 24th of October 2003 in Dili. Ms. Justine McGuinness joins AOC UK as Associate Director. Justine McGuinness was born in Singapore and grew up in Africa and Europe. In her professional life Justine has worked in strategic communications for over eleven years, involved with projects that span the policy spectrum - crime and justice, health, business/trade and industry, international development, new technologies, rural affairs, environment and education. She is the Director of a European specialist consultancy that focuses on environmental, agricultural, health and consumer affairs issues management. For six years she has provided counsel to the UK's environmental regulator, the Environment Agency, on the development of public policy and involving stakeholders in the implementation of EU Directives. She has also worked with a number of commercial organisations on the development of corporate governance for the past eight years. McGuinness is a regular speaker at international and national conferences, writes on environmental issues and is a member of the UK's Institute of Directors. Justine McGuinness was recently selected as the Liberal Democrats Parliamentary Spokesperson for West Dorset, one of the most marginal seats in the UK. <back to top> |
